I think it would be a good topic for us to discuss how the new technology in the world has helped give rise to international internet-crime rings based in countries such as Nigeria.
I think at one point or another, every one of us has got a spam email saying someone in Nigeria died leaving behind a bunsh of cash and if you help them transfer the money they will give you a large cut. Well even though it has been here for so long people still fall for these.
The most recent crime to be on the news:

This was the only one to actually hit the news, yet every year hundreds of these cyber crimes occur.
I think my question would be; What is the effect of new communication technology on the Nigerian society?

Essay mills
I think the article on essay mills is really interesting. Most of us know of the existence of them yest how many people use them is astonishing. I see it in the following two ways;
1. It's disturbing due to the fact that some students work hard and have sleepless nights getting their papers done, while others simply pay someone else.
2. It isn't a big issue to students since the one's that use them are only causing themselves harm as they are not making use of the education they are paying to get. They are depriving themselves of an education and at some point it can seriously affect them when they hit the workforce.
What's more shocking is the fact that you can pay someone to have a dissertation written. So somewhere out in the workforce there is a professor teaching students, while he himself cheated his way through the system. If someone is dishonest himself, how could he expect his students to be any better?
